About this calculator
- The rates of return are after fees, before tax. Tax on investment returns (PIR) is calculated based on your income using the thresholds effective 1 April 2025: ≤$15,600 = 10.5%, ≤$53,500 = 17.5%, above $53,500 = 28%.
- The fees used are an average for the fund type and will not reflect the actual fees you will pay.
- The returns sourced in this calculator are sourced from the latest Morningstar KiwiSaver report for a 10 year period ending March 2026.
- The government contribution (member tax credit) is calculated at 25 cents per dollar of employee and voluntary contributions, up to a maximum of $260.72 per year (effective 1 July 2025). It applies from age 16 and stops at age 65. Members earning over $180,000 are not eligible. Employer contributions do not count toward the threshold.
